Speaking at Voice+IP Frankfurt

This tuesday I talked about business opportunities in mobile augmented reality at the Voice+IP conference in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. With approximately 1.500 participants the Voice+IP conference is the most influential IT, TK and mobile-communication summit in Germany. Board members of the most known companies talk about how the future of communication will influence our lives and point out upcoming business opportunities.

This year Voice+IP hosted an extra forum dedicated to augmented reality. The organizers invited speakers from Total Immersion, Qualcomm, Metaio, Kooaba and others. In the late afternoon Ori Inbar of Ogmento talked about ar gaming.

My presentation was about mobile augmented reality and business opportunities. Handset manufacturers, network carriers, platforms, developers and creatives are all part of the rise of mobile augmented reality as the new emerging mass medium of the upcoming mobile age. So we shed some light on what drives the different players in the arena and what their business cases are. And some of our recent projects served as good examples of brands already steppin’ in and using mobile ar for marketing campaigns.

In the afternoon we presented Hoppala Augmentation, the Layar AR content management system. Visitors could augment the venue using the graphical user interface of Augmentation and place Woomba monsters or pieces of the Berlin Wall right at the venue. Hoppala Augmentation provides an easy way for non-technical creatives to start experimenting with augmented reality. It helps foster the interdisciplinary collaboration of artists, architects, game designers and players in the fields of tourism and education.

Speaking at Voice+IP was a great honor and lots of fun.
